ARLINGTON, Va.—After thousands of public comment in opposition and support of increasing catch limits for the menhaden fish species, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) voted last Tuesday to set overall total allowable catch limits (TACs) at 216,000 metric tons over the next two years, an increase of approximately 8 percent across all fisheries for states along the Eastern seaboard.
