The Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel offers anglers a highly sensitive and robust reel that delivers finesse techniques that are perfectly suited for freshwater and saltwater applications.
The Vanford is built with a CI4+ body material which is an improved version of the original CI4. This highly technical material is 2.5 times stiffer than CI4 and delivers remarkable stiffness for better reel efficiency.
The MCL (Magnumlite) rotor enhances reeling sensitivity and lighter rotations that is ideal for optimum lure control. The rotor profile is also now asymmetrical and this improves balance and achieves a 14% saving in rotation inertia, increasing sensitivity to previously unreached levels.
The reel is also fitted with a HAGANE Drive Gear for long-lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. The improved Micro Module II gearing also helps in making the reeling extreme smooth. Each reel also uses Shimano’s Silent Drive technology which removes the ‘clicking’ sound and ‘handle play’ for overall improved smooth reeling.
For improved water protection, the XProtect technology ensures the first lip prevents water from entering through the space between the rotor and the body. There is also special grease between the second and third lip that not only resists water from entering but also minimises friction resistance.
G Free Body technology in the reel has moved the worm shaft oscillation mechanism 19mm from the bottom of the reel to the top. By moving the centre of gravity closer to the anglers hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
The ARC spool helps your line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. The spool also has a long stroke design which helps improve casting distance.
Each one of the Vanford reels are also fitted with S ARB bearings which are highly corrosion resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.
