Rope work is an important part of the fire service. Firefighters need to understand how to select ropes based on construction, strength, and use. Firefighters also need to know how to tie essential fire service knots and how to properly care for, clean, and store ropes. That is what this module will cover. Content in this module is aligned with the NFPA 1001 Standards for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Fire Fighter I: 4.3.20 and 4.5.1, “Fireground Operations” and Fire Fighter II: 5.5.4, “Fire and Life Safety Initiatives, Preparedness, and Maintenance.”
