Description

This is a scarce antique combination fly and casting reel, very well made with a unique tension adjusting mechanism, cleverly positioned at the side of the foot which easliy allows control with the forefinger whilst playing a fish with the hand holding the rod. Made from alloy in a gun metal finish, correct brass foot not altered or shortened, dual horn handles, 3 1/2” diameter , knurled brass tensioner, an early reel and very well made, has all the qualities of a professional maker of its time, whether it’s a bespoke made reel or only a short limited run as it’s the first ever reel I’ve seen of its kind. Rare collectible and great to fish with, ideal for bait casting and roving or can be used with a spinner as the tensioner/ratchet can be fully released allowing a free running spool. Great for prawning, free lining baits etc.. when applying the the check it’s very strong and crisp for fly fishing. Its very suitable for playing large fish, salmon, carp, barbel etc..
