Float balls - Fishnet float These types of floating balls were used in the past by fishermen who attached these balls to their fishing nets on the outer ring so that they remained open for the catch. The first dating of a fishing net float is from 1841, and there are even suspicions that they existed earlier. They were no longer made after WWII. These are old floating balls with special, beautiful colors. 1 ball looks dark blue in the photo but is an aqua blue color, the green ball also has a special green color, the third ball is lilac-pink. These hand-blown glass balls are from Approx. 1930 Nowadays these balls are used in ponds their brilliance is said to keep fish-eating birds at bay. They are also widely collected and used decoratively. Fishing net floats come in many colors, most floating balls are dark green or dark brown, these are often of a later date.
