Hello all: This rather hard to find Hardy Bros. 3 1/2 RHW leaded salmon/steelhead reel has the shorter ribbed brass foot that is full-length and the larger springs and pawls. The stamping on the winding plate is curved, so the reel was made no later than the post-WW11 1940s period. The foot has been milled with the unusual wider portion at the pillar which I have seen a time or two, and I know to be factory. If you look carefully on the underside of the winding plate you will see the fabled initials of Jimmy Smith, JS, one of the icons that made reels at Hardy for decades. There are no line burns, cracks, missing or replaced parts on this reel, and there is more than enough braking of the spool when the check is engaged. There is a slight 'tilt' to one side of one end of the foot but, as one can see from the last photo, the foot is fully engaged in the reel seat hardware on one of my 14'0 bamboo rods, and the tilt lays snugly under the sliding band and is not an issue. $825.
